I came back into my office and there was a dead mouse on the floor in front of where I'd been sitting. The mouse was rolled in half by my chair and there was blood and tiny little guts streaked on the floor. wtf? Did I  inadvertently kill a mouse by running it over? That seems highly unlikely. How long was there a dead mouse under the desk? There isn't a mouse trap under there. I obviously smushed it when I got up to go to the bathroom. Weird and gross.
So I cleaned it up. I put on rubber gloves. And I picked up most of the mouse through a clorox wipe, several paper towels and a trash bag. (leaving behind some surprisingly elastic digestive bits)  Rolled it up, put it in another trash bag and tied it off before putting the whole thing in a barrel at the far end of the hall. Then I hosed the blood and entrails down with some industrial disinfectant. Upon wiping up the red chunky soup I found that some of the bits were stuck to the flour. I actually had to give those pesky organs an "overnight" soak before getting it all up.
With the floor finally clean, I had to attend to the task of making sure my hands were clean. First I clorox wiped my hands with the rubber gloves still on. Then I removed the gloves and washed my hands with enough dial soap to bathe an elephant in, followed by 2 applications of hand sanitizer. It sounds like overkill but it's not like I was cleaning up spilled spaghetti or something. I'm by no means a clean freak/germphobe.
After all that I could get back to the serious work I was in the middle of. Ordering stuff for my halloween costume.
